Community Involvement, Urban Villages and Mixed Development
The Trust is keen to promote a new approach to the design of developments and buildings in line with the philosophy of the Urban Village Forum and other organisations. The Trust is keen to see a more participative approach to design in rural towns and villages as well as in larger urban development and regeneration schemes. It is keen to see thoughtfully planned mixed developments, with mixes of tenure as well as mixes of use, to encourage social cohesion and vibrancy, rather than social exclusion and 'ghetto-isation'.
Approaches such as planning for real, planning by enquiry and the RIBA's 'percent for participation' scheme are to be encouraged.
