A major driving force behind the sustainable construction project is to initiate and encourage a wide range and large number of good practice examples of sustainable construction to be built. Help was provided by local companies to ensure properties were spock and span.

The South Somerset Sustainable Construction Project started early in 2000, and the Somerset Trust for Sustainable Development was launched in mid-2000. With so many projects in the early stages, we expect to have a very good range and number of sustainable construction exemplar in and around South Somerset by 2019, to add to the small number that exist already.
